The New Years Eve Contra is back! This year it’s with Vicki Swan and Jonny Dyer, with calling from Charlotte Rich and Charlie Turner! To book tickets please fill out the contact form below.
Venue: Harbury Village Hall, South Parade, CV33 9JE
Timings: Doors 7pm, bring and share supper from 7:30pm, dancing from 8:30pm til midnight. We finish the night with the bongs on the radio, auld lang syne, and our new years chappelloise.
Please bring a plate of food to share at the bring and share supper.
Calls: larks and ravens.
This year, we are offering three prices of ticket: super-supporter, supporter and regular. These all mean the same thing – they give entry to the event – but there are opportunities for people to pay more if they wish. Last year the new years eve contra made enough to cover the hall hire, and pay each performer £100. This is a poor fee, especially for new years eve, so any extra money from supporter tickets will first of all go to increasing this year’s fee, up to £150 per performer. Any money over and above that will go towards growing the event in the future to make it bigger and better.
Please pay for your tickets on the door.
If you are new to contra dancing and would like to come a little bit early for an intro workshop please let me know. There is no extra charge but it is useful to get numbers.
By expressing an interest in offering or getting lifts, you are agreeing for me to share your email address with a person you could share with. We can’t guarantee anything, but I will sort out lifts for people when I can.
I’m super grateful to anyone who can offer to help. Helpers should still be able to get plenty of dancing and socialising as many hands make light work. If you have a specific job you’d like to do (eg door, food, tea), please let me know.
We offer indoor camping for an additional £5. Please bring a sleeping bag and mat/airbed. There will be a light breakfast in the morning (fruit, cereal, pastries, yoghurt, tea and coffee). We will aim to cater for any dietary requirements we know about.
Finally, please let us know if you have any access needs and we will do our best to accommodate you. It may not always be possible but we would love to have a conversation and see what we can do.
